The website launch checklist.

30 things to check before your site goes live. Click them off as you go.

Your progress 0 / 30

You've built your website. It looks good. But before you share it with the world, take five minutes to run through this list. I use it for every client project. It catches the small things that make a big difference.

Content

The stuff people actually come to read.

All placeholder text has been replaced with your real content
No spelling or grammar mistakes
Your email, phone number, and address are correct
Every link goes where it should (click them all, seriously)
Images have alt text (short descriptions for screen readers and Google)
Copyright year is current

Design & Usability

How it looks and feels across devices.

Looks good on your phone (not just your laptop)
Tested in at least two browsers (Chrome + Safari is enough)
The menu works on mobile
You have a favicon (the small icon in the browser tab)
There's a 404 page so visitors don't hit a dead end
Every button does something (no dead clicks)

Google & Search

So people can actually find you.

Every page has a clear title (this shows up in Google results)
Every page has a short description (also shows up in Google)
Each page has one main heading (H1), not two or three
When you share your site on WhatsApp or LinkedIn, the preview looks right
You've submitted your site to Google Search Console
Google is allowed to index your site (not accidentally blocked)

Speed

Slow sites lose visitors. And Google notices.

Images are compressed (large photos are the #1 speed killer)
The site loads in under 3 seconds on your phone
Run a test on PageSpeed Insights and aim for 90+

Security

The lock icon in the browser bar matters more than you think.

Your site loads on https:// (with the lock icon)
Typing http:// automatically redirects to https://
Contact forms have spam protection
Your domain is connected and working (with and without www)

Tracking

Know who visits and what they do.

Google Analytics or an alternative is installed
You can see visits coming in (test it yourself)
Form submissions and button clicks are being tracked
Cookie consent banner is in place (required in Europe)
You have a privacy policy page

You're ready to launch.

All 30 items checked. Go live.

One more thing. Don't let this list stop you from launching. A missing favicon never killed a business. But waiting three extra months to go live might.

Check the important stuff, fix what you can, and hit publish. You can always improve later.
