Why every website needs an FAQ section.

It's the simplest thing you can add to your website to rank higher on Google and get recommended by ChatGPT.

Every business owner I've worked with can rattle off the top 5 questions their customers ask before buying. "How much does it cost?" "How long does it take?" "Do you work with my industry?"

Those questions are gold. Not just for sales calls, but for your website. Because right now, thousands of people are typing those exact questions into Google. And increasingly, they're asking ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini instead.

An FAQ section puts your answers where both search engines and AI tools can find them. Here's why that matters more than you think.

What it does for Google (SEO)

When someone types "how much does a website cost for a small business" into Google, it looks for pages that directly answer that question. If your FAQ has that exact question with a clear answer, you have a shot at showing up.

Even better: Google sometimes pulls FAQ answers into a special box at the top of search results, above all other websites. That box is called a featured snippet, and it gets more clicks than the #1 result.

How much does a website cost?

A simple business website typically costs between €500 and €2,000. The price depends on the number of pages, custom design requirements, and whether you need features like booking forms or e-commerce.

Your FAQ answer, displayed above every other search result. Free traffic.

Three reasons FAQ sections help your SEO:

  • 1. They match how people actually search. Most Google searches are questions. FAQ sections are literally made of questions.
  • 2. They add keywords naturally. You're not stuffing keywords, you're answering real questions using words your customers use.
  • 3. They keep people on your site longer. Someone who finds their question answered is more likely to look around.

What it does for AI search (GEO)

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization. It's the new term for making your website show up in AI-generated answers. Think of it as SEO's younger sibling.

Here's how AI tools work: when someone asks ChatGPT "what should I know before hiring a web designer?", the AI scans the web for pages that answer that question clearly and directly. It then combines the best answers into one response.

If your FAQ has that question with a clean, specific answer, the AI can cite you as a source. Some tools like Perplexity even link directly to your page.

Why AI loves FAQ sections

AI tools are trained to find answers. An FAQ is the most answer-dense part of your website. Each question-answer pair is a self-contained, citable unit that AI can pull into its response. No other page format is this easy for AI to work with.

The difference between SEO and GEO is this: with Google, you try to rank for a keyword. With AI, you try to be the source that gets cited. FAQ sections work for both because they do the same thing: give clear answers to specific questions.

What a good FAQ looks like (vs. a bad one)

Most FAQ sections are either too vague or too corporate. Toggle between these two:

Vague, unhelpful

How much do your services cost?

"Our pricing depends on the project. Contact us for a custom quote."

How long does a project take?

"Every project is different. We'll discuss timelines during our initial consultation."

Neither Google nor AI can do anything with these. There's no actual answer to index or cite.

How to write your FAQ in 15 minutes

1. Write down every question customers ask you

Check your email, WhatsApp, DMs. Look at what people ask before they buy. You probably already know the top 5 by heart.

2. Answer each one in 2-3 sentences

Be specific. Use numbers when you can (prices, timelines, quantities). Write like you're replying to a friend, not drafting a legal document.

3. Use the actual question as the heading

Don't rephrase it. If customers ask "Do I need to provide my own photos?", use exactly that. It matches what people type into Google and ask AI tools.

4. Add FAQ schema (optional but powerful)

This is a small piece of code that tells Google "this is an FAQ." It makes you eligible for those featured snippet boxes. Ask your developer, it takes five minutes.

How much does a website cost?
A simple website with 3-5 pages typically costs between €500 and €750. Larger projects with custom features, e-commerce, or complex functionality start around €1,500. Every project starts with a free brainstorm call where we'll scope out exactly what you need and give you a fixed price.
How long does it take to build a website?
Most websites are live within 1-2 weeks from the brainstorm session. A simple landing page can be done in 48 hours. The biggest factor is how quickly you can provide your content: text, photos, and your logo.
Do I need to write all the text myself?
You don't need to be a writer. Just give me the basics: what your business does, who it's for, and what makes you different. I'll turn that into clear, professional website copy. If you already have text ready, even better.
Will my website show up on Google?
Every website I build is optimized for Google from day one. That includes proper page titles, meta descriptions, fast loading speed, mobile-friendly design, and structured data. I also set up Google Search Console so you can track your performance.
What happens after the website is live?
You own everything. I'll hand over all access and make sure you know how to make small changes yourself. If you need updates, design changes, or want to add new pages later, I'm always available. Most small changes are quick and affordable.

The bottom line. An FAQ section takes 15 minutes to write and helps you rank on Google, get cited by AI, answer customer objections before they ask, and reduce repetitive emails. There's no other change to your website that gives you this much for this little effort.
